Prospero Año Nuevo! Happy New Year! Don’t let it sound trite to you; this really, truly IS the first day of the rest of your life. How will you choose to spend it?
How about just one-day-at-a-time?
While this is supposed to be the yearly “resolution” note and okay, it’s even true that I have some resolutions- the truth is that in life, consistency bodes much better than flashy stops and starts. And I am the QUEEN of flashy stops and starts. Dictionary.com gives one definition of consistency: steadfast adherence to the same principles, course, form, etc. as in: “There is consistency in his pattern of behavior.”
I love it. Staying the course. Steadfast adherence. Pattern of Behavior. Good words to live by! Perseverance does after all, produce hope! So one could say that:
“Staying the course with steadfast adherence will result in a pattern of behavior that produces hope!“
So my ultimate resolution is to work on consistency this year. I just want to stay the course. Can I change my life in small ways that I can really stick to so it ends up really counting? Can you? Well I must confess that I am going to need a little help.
Finding an expert in their field is one way you can be successful at any New Year endeavor. Like a child (or an editor!) may need a tutor in math to help get through a tough spot, adults may also need someone’s expertise to guide them through messy finances, much needed health changes or anything that we have had little experience with. So go get help if you need to!
This year I am really going to try to make a difference in my kids’ lives by consistently making choices and changes that can make my own life healthier. Everyone wants to be healthier and we all start out each New Year trying to make big changes in order to get healthier. But I am going to concentrate on small, step by step changes instead of my normal all-or-nothing efforts. Accomplishing a slower, inch by inch progression on solid ground is better than falling off the cliff of one-great-leap.
One way that I am getting my help this year is by committing to full treatment at Tavares Dental Excellence. I’ve put this off for way too long so from A to Z, (or more aptly put from 1-32!) I am going to commit to a full treatment plan for my own dental care. I am going to consistently step out the comprehensive plan they set before me! This amazing office offers the best of the best in your family’s care so go see Dr. Luong or Dr. Reinertsen at Tavares Dental Excellence and tell them Steph sent you to start up the New Year a little healthier, dentally speaking! (Check out Dr. Luong’s gorgeous daughter gracing our cover this month as well!)
Whatever your goals are for the New Year, make consistency in moving forward in small steps one of them. You will be more successful, less disappointed, and you just might be surprised at how well you can stay the course!
Love from our family to yours,
Stephanie Clunn
